Just want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas. I hope your holidays are spent with your loved ones and that you get everything you want/need!
Guy got me a vaccuum cleaner for Christmas. We are the type of people that when we need something, well, we buy it! Okay, so the vaccuum cleaner will not be wrapped or put under the tree, but that's because I'll probably have to start using it immediately! Guy will be getting a 42 inch plasma TV and it's TV holder. Of course, we will most definitely not wrap it or put it under the tree seeing as how he will immediately want to start hooking it up. And, of course, he will have paid for it himself (okay, with my help, too.)so, no surprise there. I also got him a coffee table book on the pictures taken by some photographer while the made-for-TV movie was being made: Lonesome Dove. Just one of his all-time favorites. That's no surprise either since he accidently saw where I hid it and knows it's there. Well, I'll try and get some photos for you guys as soon as I can.
We've sort of moved in, but still have a lot of boxes that we need to unpack. At least the kitchen and the bedroom are set up! We also now have buyer for our house in Lake Charles. So, that is really coming out great now. Gonna miss Old Lake Charles, that's for sure. I'll keep you posted. Mitzcli and Jasmine and Astro and Oreo say hello to all.

I'm BACK!!!!
Greetings! So much has happened, first in line is the fact that I could't remember my sign in name and password...darn it. But I happened to notice that I had this filed away (thank God!) so, I didn't have to long to look.
Well, Guy and I are living in Houston, in a condo thanks to the generosity of a fine friend and the work of God in our lives. It's too amazing. Guy has started work and he loves it. Looks like he's going to be a bit busy for a while, until he settles down to a routine.
We should be moving to our own house (1542 Hilton Head) prayerfully, by the end of October or beginning of November. I MISS MY LITTLE PUMPKINS! Man, I miss their yapping and their licking my face and their cute little looks and their meowing and following me around and all sorts of other things. LOL
We will be putting our home up for sale in Lake Charles. Man, good memories there. Great neighbors, great location, etc. But we really can't keep two houses (I wish!) So, now that I'm back, I'm here to stay.
Oh, by the way, I did also begin working at Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, again (two years ago I left after five years with them) in the exact same spot I was in when I left. WOW. Is God gracious or what? AND, I had my 52nd birthday in September. Whew. I'm tired. So much has happened in the span of one month. Later troops!

16th Wedding Anniversary
Guy and I took a great 16th Wedding Anniversary to New Orleans. Guy explains:
We received 3 blessings on Saturday in New Orleans. We went to Jackson Square for café au lait and beignets at Café du Monde. We parked in back on the Mississippi River and as we walked to Café we heard beautiful voices singing hymns! Mennonite choir singing a capella. We stood and listened to the music filling the square. They were part of a permanent contingency to help with Katrina recovery. You should have seen some of the looks from the people passing on the street.
After breakfast we walked toward the French Market and stopped at a bookstore that had a beautifully illustrated Brer Rabbit book. We talked to the owner, a very nice soft spoken Nawlins' drawl. Later, after shopping in the French Market we came back to the bookstore to buy the book, he said, "I knew you would come back and I have something extra for you." He showed me a small metal box with a Papal insignia on top and 2 wafers inside. "You know what this is?" I said "no." He said "I am ordained as a deacon in the Catholic Church and I would like to bless you." He made the sign of the cross in a blessing in front of us and then touched my forehead making a cross, which he recited in Latin! (This was just so awesome, it brought tears to my eyes!! - Meli)
After leaving the bookstore we walked in front of Café du Monde where the little 3-piece band was playing. Feeling generous and blessed we dropped a $5 in the bucket. The leader of the band said "Hey, come here." I got something for you. "For a $20 donation to rebuilding our church destroyed by Katrina, I will give you this CD." Hack Bartholomew (hackb.com) blessed us with some great jazz gospel music on our way back home.
We had a wonderful weekend. We were able to come back home on Saturday, really quick trip! By the by, we inadvertantly left Astro locked in our bedroom. Needless to say, she tried desperately to get out! Poor baby. She was so pissed at us that she pooped on my side of the bed! I didn't notice (NO, I DID NOT GET IN BED WHEN I FOUND IT!) until I pulled the sheets back, getting ready to crawl in bed when I noticed. I had to sleep in another room :)

Spring is in the air
Along with all the crud coming off the trees! Yikes! I had to "sprinkle" my car this morning just to get the yellow stuff that's been sitting on it from the weekend! I don't get it: are the trees getting rid of the old leaves to make way for the new? Becuz there is so much junk coming down from them! Guy (God love him!) has been needling me to take pics of the outside of the house...we've hung some pretty baskets of flowers in the front and I made a wreath in celebration of Easter coming up! So, I will try and follow up with pics in the next week or so.

Katy's Broken Arm!
Little Katy broke her arm. She fell off a trampoline that didn't have the "cage" that is supposed to go around it. 'Nuff said. :) Anyway, she's fine, had some pins put in her little left arm, around the elbow area. As we all know, lots of kids are really resilient, so let's pray she'll be up and around soon.

Astro is Back!
Yippee! I was coming home on Friday after work and praying...yep, praying for something to happen. I had started praying since she first came up "missing" and had come to a full knowledge that God was in control, that he would deliver her to me -- whether in a good way or bad. Well, I had prayed that Friday extra hard because we have had some cold and wet nights, and I was worried. Lo and behold, a Siamese crossed by path about four blocks from our house. It wasn't Astro, but I couldn't believe that I would even see one out and about! As I turned the corner one block from our house -- I noticed another Siamese cross by path about 1/2 a block away. I couldn't help muttering out loud how God would throw two of the same species of cats in front of me -- never having seen to many in one day! I stopped the car; rolled down the window and called out her name. She stopped...she turned to look at me...she meowed. I knew right away. It took about 10 min. of coaxing, but she finally came to me. I wrapped my arms around her not knowing exactly how I was going to get her in the car (she scratches!) and she lived up to that! She gave me a good long scratch on the palm of my hand just as I was in front of that open window! I threw thru the window and she cowered until I got in. After that, she settled down. She has been one happy camper since. I've had to sleep with her 'cause I am just so happy to have her with me! So, please remember this: God does answer prayers. They may not be quite the way we would like them answered...I even had doubts I would see her alive, but I quickly pushed those thoughts away knowing full well that only One was in control, and He never lets us down.

Just wanted to let you know that my baby, Astro, is missing. She went away on Thursday, January 18th. She got out of the house by opening the screen door...at 3 a.m., while Guy was letting the dogs take a walk and pee. I miss her terribly...I call her name everyday while I'm outside with the dogs...as if she would hear and answer. {sniff} I pray that she's in someone's house right now all warm and cozy and driving them nuts by wanting to sit on their laps and just let them cuddle her and pet her.
Greetings!
Just wanted to let you all know that I'll be posting some pics of my visit with my mom in the "sunny" Rio Grande Valley. Only it wasn't sunny...it was cold. There were thoughts it might snow or sleet. None of which happened. And I was soooo prepared for it. Shucks. Anyway, will be posting soon. I haven't forgotten!!!
